Prosthesis in dentistry is devices designed to help maintain the health of exiting tissues while restoring chewing functions, contribution to speech and aesthetics of lost teeth and tissues .

We can evaluate prostheses in two different classes as fixed and removable prosthesis.

When fixed prosthesis are separated as crown and bridge, they can be called all-métal, porcelaine-fused-to-metal (PFM)  or all-ceramic , depending on the materials used in their construction.

Removable prosthesis can be named differently according to different features.

•Complete Dentures

•Partial Dentures

•İmmediate (Temporary) Dentures

•Overdenture (tooth or implant supported) prosthesis

Crown:  It is the process of reducing and covering the teeth with excessive material loss  that are bruise , broken or other reasons .

Bridge: In the case of one or more missing teeth, the adjacent teeth are reduced and support is taken from special crowning on them  to fill in the interstitial spaces.

When a tooth loss occurs for any reason, the adjacent teeth begin to move towards this space. As a result, there are gum problems in the adjacent teeth, bone loss due to overturning of this space, aesthetic deterioration and changes in masticatory forces. If this space is not restored with an implant or bridge for a long time, it may also be a loss in adjacent teeth.

Complete Denture: If a person has lost all teeth in his mouth, Complete Denture must be done.

In recent years, changed that complete denture is the only chance of toothless mouths. The implants placed in the jawbone and the implant supported dental prosthesis is now giving patients the feeling of chewing with their own teeth and are therefore often preferred.

Partial denture: In the partial lack of teeth, it is a kind of dental prostheses providing the attachment to the teeth with metal pieces named clasp  which made  with a special combination of acrylic and metal

Another type of prosthesis used in partial tooth deficiency. The retention of the prosthesis is provided by female and male parts called precision-machined , not by  clasp like partial denture . These prostheses are much more aesthetic, conservative and healthier than classical partial prosthesis.

All Ceramic Crowns

Natural teeth are translucent. As a result, dental depth and vitality occur. Due to the light transmission properties of metal free porcelain crowns (all ceramic), depth and liveliness are more so that the closest results to the natural tooth are obtained.

Metal Free All Ceramic Crowns and Bridges

We normally fabricate the crown or bridge prosthesis, which for the restoration of teeth underwent excessive material loss, infrastructures as metal and make sure that the top porcelain is not broken.

Nowadays, Infrastructure produced from reinforced without using metal porcelain instead of metal and with exceptions it is more difficult anymore  to keep metal infrastructures at our options  in  terms of health and aesthetics .

Advantages:

1. While all ceramics create a very similar aesthetic to natural tooth structure because they are translucent, even if they are made very well, there is a dullness and artificiality in metal porcelain. For this reason, full ceramics should be preferred especially in the front teeth.
2. Pporcelaine-fused-to-metal give a dark-colored space image in some lights (disco, photographic flash, etc.) as they were missing in the mouth. All ceramics react like natural teeth and it is translucent for all kinds of light.
3. Pporcelaine-fused-to-metal bonded to the teeth mechanically. The All ceramics are bonded to the tooth mechanically and chemically (Adhesive Cementation). This means that they have much higher retention than metal supported. They fall harder.
4. Since there is no metal at the structure, there is not a dark color line (Purple Color) between the crown and the gum. More aesthetic appearance is provided.
5. When there is a recession, full porcelains maintain their aesthetic appearance, while metal porcelains form a bad image in the areawhere they join with the tooth.

• There is no risk of allergy to certain metals used in the substructure (nickel, etc.) in complete ceramics.

Reinforced porcelain is obtained by compression on special machines. It is especially preferred in the front teeth because of its very good light transmission. It is not sufficiently resistant to masticatory forces, especially for the rear area

In this system zirconium as a white alloy is used instead of metal as a substructure. This state of the art technology is the only material with the ability to offer aesthetics and durability together. The greatest advantage of the system is that it has a very high durability and a full aesthetic appearance in the rear part bridges.
